If your brain were a sponge, what would it be soaking up today?
If we’re honest, the answer for many of us might include:
• Social media news and endless opinions
• Digital chatter—emails, texts, posts, comments
• Replay loops of past conversations or future worries
• Social media news and endless opinions
• Digital chatter—emails, texts, posts, comments
• Replay loops of past conversations or future worries
Now imagine squeezing that sponge. What comes out?
- Fear
- Anxiety
- Chronic stress
- Irritability
Do you recognize any of these emotions today? If so, you’re not alone.
What goes in... must come out.
What goes in... must come out.
We aren’t taught in school that what we wash our brains in becomes our beliefs.
Those beliefs evoke emotions. Emotions drive behavior.
Those beliefs evoke emotions. Emotions drive behavior.
And it all starts with the mental ingredients we’re soaking in—often unconsciously.

Information → Thoughts → Ideas → Beliefs → Emotions → Actions → Identity
Let me say it another way:
You’ve heard the phrase you are what you eat. There’s truth to that.
A steady diet of processed junk leads to sugar crashes, sluggishness, irritability, and eventually—if left unchecked—fractured relationships.
A steady diet of processed junk leads to sugar crashes, sluggishness, irritability, and eventually—if left unchecked—fractured relationships.
The same is true for the mind.
If you feast on inflammatory news in the morning, compare your life to curated Instagram families at lunch, and end your day with doomsday sermons...
How can you expect peace at bedtime?
You can’t.
Your mind is overloaded.
And your body—your nervous system—feels it.
Your mind is overloaded.
And your body—your nervous system—feels it.
A Personal Example
I remember a time when I noticed that every time I got on Facebook, I’d feel more depressed than when I started.
I’d scroll past photos of happy families, vacations, and smiling kids—all while silently struggling to connect with my second child during a painful chapter for both of us.
At the time, I didn’t know those perfect-looking families were also struggling behind the scenes. But repeated exposure to their highlight reels fed a growing narrative in my mind:
You’re a bad mom. Even Sarah has her shit together—but you? You’re a failure. Your kids and husband would be better off without you. You are losing at life.
Those thoughts became stories. The stories became beliefs.
And those beliefs triggered heavy emotions, low energy, and eventually—disconnection from the people I loved most.
And those beliefs triggered heavy emotions, low energy, and eventually—disconnection from the people I loved most.
I began to treat others the way I believed I deserved to be treated.
That’s projection. It’s a natural reaction to the beliefs we hold.
It may not be good, but it’s fair.
Because what goes in... comes out.
It may not be good, but it’s fair.
Because what goes in... comes out.
That belief system—rooted in repetition, comparison, and shame—had consequences. Some of those consequences I still live with today, even though I’ve since reprogrammed my mind and body.
I’m not sharing this to shame anyone.
I’m sharing it to remind you:
I’m sharing it to remind you:
You have far more power than you realize.
If someone tells you otherwise, they either don’t know the truth—or they benefit from your disconnection.
I don’t profit from telling you this. But I hope you hear it.
Whether you discover it by accident or recognize it because someone whispered it to you at the right time—I hope you find this truth in your lifetime.
Because it will radically shift your experience.
Want Proof? Test It.
You don’t have to take my word for it.
Test it for yourself.
Test it for yourself.
Spend a day feasting on:
- Doomscrolling
- Fear-based sermons
- Catastrophic news reports
- Conspiracy theories
Then check in:
- How do you feel at night?
- How well do you sleep?
- What does your body feel like? (Hint: maybe don’t try this on a day you can’t sleep in the next morning.)
Now, try the opposite.
Spend a day feasting on:
- Gratitude
- Uplifting, solution-focused content
- Time in nature
- Real stories of healing and progress
- Moments of quiet, joy, or connection
Then ask:
- Which one brought you peace?
- Which one motivated you to actually help change the world?
One inflames.
The other empowers.
The other empowers.
Hope doesn’t make you ignorant.
It makes you effective.
It makes you effective.
Final Thought
Mind what you consume—mentally and physically.
Because what’s true in the natural world has always been true in the metaphysical one:
Because what’s true in the natural world has always been true in the metaphysical one:
What you feed on becomes one with you.
What you soak your mind in... shapes you.
What you soak your mind in... shapes you.
Nature is always teaching.
You can ignore it—or you can align with it and thrive.
You can ignore it—or you can align with it and thrive.
The choice is yours.
With love,
